New Delhi: Russia will complete the delivery of the remaining S-400 air defence systems to India by 2025–26, confirmed Roman Babushkin, Russia’s Deputy Chief of Mission in India. Speaking on Monday, he noted the S-400 had demonstrated “very efficient” performance during recent India-Pakistan tensions.
Babushkin also signalled potential expansion of defence cooperation, particularly in air defence and anti-drone technologies. “We are open to promoting this partnership further,” he said, citing shared interests amid evolving global security challenges.
India signed a $5.43 billion deal with Russia in 2018 for five S-400 Triumf squadrons. Three have already been delivered, with two more on schedule.
Addressing the increasing threat of drones, Babushkin emphasized Russia’s ongoing modernization of counter-drone systems, highlighting joint opportunities for collaboration.
He also hinted that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov may visit India soon, though exact dates are yet to be confirmed.
