Bihar’s Industrial Boom: Gayaji to Become State’s Largest Industrial Hub

 

Patna: Bihar is fast reshaping its economic landscape with a strong push toward industrialization. From Patna to Madhubani, Munger to Kishanganj, massive industrial parks are taking shape — marking a bold leap from an agrarian economy to an industrial powerhouse.

The most ambitious development is underway in Gayaji, where the state’s largest industrial park is being built over 1,670 acres. Under the Amritsar-Kolkata Industrial Corridor, an Integrated Manufacturing Cluster is coming up in Dobhi at a cost of ₹1,339 crore. This mega project is expected to generate over 43,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities, transforming the region into a vibrant economic hub.

The cluster will house dedicated zones for:

  • Food Processing (192 acres)

  • Furniture (83.5 acres)

  • Readymade Garments & Leatherite (192 acres)

  • Technical Industries (233.8 acres)

  • Building Materials (133.72 acres)

  • Handloom & Handicrafts (16.7 acres)

  • Logistics (50.1 acres)

  • General Sheds (16.7 acres)

Industry Minister Nitish Mishra said the department is actively working to make more land available for enterprises and ensure Bihar becomes a hub of industry in the coming years.

Statewide Push for Industrial Zones

Beyond Gayaji, industrial zones are expanding rapidly:

  • Munger: 50 acres handed over in Sangrampur

  • Madhubani: 712-acre park under development in Jhanjharpur

  • Vaishali & Sitamarhi: Over 1,200 acres being developed in Jandaha, Raja Pakad, Mahua, Nanpur, and Sonvarsha

Land Bank Creation in Underserved Districts

In line with announcements during the CM’s Pragati Yatra, the government has identified 21,273 acres of land for industrial use across the state. Notably, seven previously untouched districtsArwal, Jamui, Kaimur, Saran, Sheikhpura, Shivhar, and Banka — are now included in the industrial roadmap.

Of the total land identified:

  • 18,059 acres are private (raiyati) land

  • 3,162 acres are government-owned

  • 457 acres have already been transferred to the Industry Department

With strategic planning and rapid execution, Bihar is set to emerge as a major industrial destination, ready to balance its agricultural roots with manufacturing might.
