PM Modi warmly welcome to Chinese Prez in Mahabalipuram for Informal Summit

Mahabalipuram: Chinese President Xi Jinping reached Mahabalipuram in Tamil Nadu at 5 pm on Friday evening where Prime Minister Narendra Modi warmly welcomed him. Both the veteran leaders then informally discussed various issues. Earlier, he had reached Chennai Airport, where he had a grand reception. As soon as Xi landed at the airport, moments later, the PM tweeted two photos of him reaching there and wrote, Welcome to India. Xi is on a 24-hour visit to India for the second informal summit with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The summit will take place in the ancient coastal city of Mamallapuram, about 50 km from Tamil Nadu, which is important due to the strong trade and cultural ties with China’s Fujian Province. Foreign Minister Wang Yi and China’s State Councilor Yang Jiechi have arrived with Chinfing. Both can hold separate talks with their counterparts in India, Foreign Minister S Jaishankar and National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval.
The visit comes immediately after the recent situation of fluctuating bilateral relations over India’s decision to abolish the special status of Jammu and Kashmir. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister EK Palaniswami, Governor Banwarilal Purohit and Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker P Dhanapal welcomed the Chinese President.
