Jharkhand reports 4th COVID-19 positive case

ANS: The fourth COVID-19 positive case has been reported in the Hindpidhi area of Ranchi- the state capital of Jharkhand on Monday.

Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) hospital authority confirmed that a woman has tested positive and has been admitted to the special COVID-19 ward.

This woman had no travel history, but she came in direct contact with the first Corona infected Malaysian woman of the state. She lives in the same locality of Hindpidi where that Malaysian woman was staying,” said Nitin Madan Kulkarni Principal Health Secretary, Jharkhand.

Jharkhand reported its first positive Coronavirus case as a Malaysian woman who was found hiding along with 17 other foreigners in a mosque at Hindpidi in Ranchi tested positive on 31 March. The Malaysian woman belongs to the Tabligi Jamaat in New Delhi.

The second COVID-19 case was found in Hazaribagh while in the third COVID-19 case a woman in Bokaro district reported positive on Sunday. She had a travel history, recently returned back to her village Telo after participating in the Jamaat congregation in Bangladesh.

Notably, Hindpidhi in Ranchi is the same area where the first COVID-19 positive case, a woman from Malaysia who was said to have participated in the Tablighi Jamaat centre in Delhi, was detected. She found hiding in a mosque along with 24 others, including 17 foreigners and tested positive, sources said.

A total of 14, 228 persons have been quarantined at quarantine centres all over the State while 1, 43,227 people have been home quarantined in their respective homes, the official record revealed.

The total number of Coronavirus cases in India has surged to 4600. The novel COVID-19 has so far claimed 129 lives in the country. Fresh deaths were reported from Maharashtra, Gujarat, Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday. According to the Ministry of Health and Welfare, over 300 Coronavirus patients have recovered from the disease. At present, there are over 4200 active COVID-19 cases in the country.
