Canteen staff killed in Bokaro Steel plant

Bokaro: An employee working at Steel Melting Shop-II (SMS-II) canteen inside the Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) was killed on Sunday night. The deceased was identified as Akash Gope, a resident of Chandankiyari in Bokaro district.

The body has been sent for postmortem; in prima-facie, it seems that the youth was killed by hitting with a heavy iron rod on his head, said Santosh Kumar OC of City police station.

We have found Mortar on the spot, but Pestle is missing. The canteen had a mortar and pestle to crush the ingredients to spice it up. It is believed that the after killing murderer threw the pestle or took it away with him, he said.

On Sunday, the canteen was open to serve tea and biscuits to the night shift employees and Akash was alone in the canteen, police said.

According to the BSL’s employees, they were rushed to the canteen at around 7 pm on Sunday to drink tea. After serving tea, Akash told them that tomorrow is Holi and I will have to go to my village (Chandankiyari). Today, I will close the canteen a few hours earlier and will go home.

Later at night (around 9 PM), when we (BSL employees) again rushed canteen to drink tea, they saw that the body of the Akash was lying on the floor, they said.

An FIR has been lodged against ‘unknown,’ and we are investigating into the matter, said OC.

Notably, BSL is under the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), which is considered very strong security. Putting the CISF cops on the toes, the killer succeeds in escaping from the plant.

Earlier in 2012, four decayed bodies were also found inside the Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL).
