RNS: United States will share 80 million vaccine doses globally over the next six weeks, announced US President Joe Biden.

The 80 million doses will include 20 million doses of the Moderna, Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson vaccines as well as AstraZeneca. US will begin shipping 20 million doses of Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson’s Covid-19 vaccines to unspecified needy countries by June end.

While the 60 million shots of AstraZeneca’s vaccine will be distributed after the authorization by the US Food and Drug Administration, the President said.

Notably, AstraZeneca is not yet permitted for use in the USA and nor even requested for. But 60 million doses are pre-contracted to the company, whenever it gets nod form the drug regulator. Canada and Mexico, have already committed for four million shots of the vaccine.

During his state of the union address Biden pledged that, US will become an “arsenal” of global vaccine supply.

“The 80 million vaccine doses are to be donated which would be five times more than by any country,” noted white house press secretary Jen Psaki.
