Jharkhand govt. extends lockdown-like restrictions; allows shops to stay open till 8 pm

RNS: Jharkhand government extended the ongoing lockdown-like restrictions until further notice; allowed shops to remain open till 8pm on weekdays across the state on Wednesday amid a significant fall reported in fresh COVID-19 cases during the past few weeks across the state.

The provisions related to observance of the Health Safety Week (lockdown-like restrictions) have been extended from 6 am on July 1 till further orders, stated in a communiqué released by the government.

However, all establishments will remain closed from 8pm on Saturday to 6am on Monday while the healthcare establishments and milk stores will remain open on weekends, the order stated.

All government and private offices will be allowed to function on weekdays with 50 per cent capacity. Gatherings of more than 50 people will remain prohibited, but banquet halls may hold ceremonies where less than 50 guests are invited.

Religious places will remain closed for devotees and processions will not be allowed in the state.

The state also decided to continue with the restriction on interstate bus services, but allowed movement of buses within the state.

“E-pass will not be required for movement in private vehicles within the state, though it will be mandatory for such vehicles coming from outside”, the order reveals.

Cinemas, bars, multiplexes and restaurants were allowed to operate with a 50 per cent capacity, while stadiums, gyms and parks can be opened. All schools will continue to be closed and state examinations will be postponed.

The examinations conducted by the Centre will be held. Anganwadi centres will remain closed but food items will be provided to the beneficiaries at home, the order said.

Wearing masks in public places and maintaining social distancing will be mandatory, the statement said adding that violating the norms will attract penal action under the Disaster Management Act.
