RNS: Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully test-fired BrahMos supersonic cruise missile from INS Visakhapatnam warship on Tuesday.
The missile hit the designated target “precisely”, DRDO said.
“Advanced sea to sea variant of BrahMos Supersonic Cruise missile was tested from INS Visakhapatnam today. Missile hit the designated target ship precisely,” tweeted DRDO.
Rajnath Singh, the Defence Minister has congratulated the team work of Indian Navy and DRDO. “The robustness of Indian Navy mission readiness is reconfirmed today after a successful launch of the advanced version of BrahMos Missile,” Singh tweeted.
According to the reports, BrahMos, a supersonic cruise missile can be launched from submarines, ships, aircraft, or from land platforms. It flies at a speed of 2.8 Mach which is almost three times the speed of sound.
