ISRO successfully launches its next-generation navigational satellite

RNS: The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully launched its next-generation of navigational satellite NVS-1 from the second launch pad at Sathish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota this morning.

GSLV F12 rocket successfully placed NVS-1 (weighing about 2,232 kilograms), the first of the second-generation satellite series, into geosynchronous transfer orbit, informed the official.

The spacecraft is part of the Navigation with Indian Constellation (NavIC) series, which aims to provide monitoring and navigational capability. This satellite also carried an indigenously developed rubidium atomic clock which will be used for GPS precise location timing.
