RNS: A five-day Special Parliament Session kicked off in New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his address, described this session as “historic” and laden with significance, emphasizing the profound impact it is poised to have on India’s future.
The session commenced its deliberations in the hallowed halls of the old Parliament Building, marking a symbolic initiation of the proceedings. However, this historic gathering is set to shift to the newly inaugurated Parliament Building, a grand structure unveiled by PM Modi on May 28th earlier this year.
At the heart of this Special Parliament Session lies a meticulous reflection on Parliament’s remarkable 75-year journey. Eloquent discussions will revolve around its achievements, experiences, memories, and invaluable lessons. Both houses of Parliament will conduct these discussions independently, spanning the entirety of the day.
Before the inaugural session, PM Modi underlined this event’s extraordinary importance. He noted, “This session of the Parliament is short, but going by the time, it is huge. This is a session of historic decisions.”
The gravity of this occasion has not escaped the Prime Minister, who is determined to make the most of this limited time.
“This is a short session. Their (MPs) maximum time should be devoted to the session in an environment of enthusiasm and excitement,” Modi urged, emphasizing the need for unwavering dedication from Members of Parliament during these crucial days.
PM Modi expressed his sentiments with a touch of optimism, stating, “There are a few moments in life which fill you with enthusiasm and faith. I look at this short session like that.” His words underscore the sense of promise and hope that this gathering holds for the nation.
In a symbolic move, PM Modi announced, “Tomorrow, on Ganesh Chaturthi, we will move to the new Parliament.” He invoked Lord Ganesha, also known as ‘Vighnaharta,’ and emphasized that the new Parliament Building represents a future free from obstacles to India’s development.
“To make the country a developed nation by 2047 and to fulfill the dream, all the decisions of the time to come will be taken in the new Parliament building,” the PM declared, setting forth a vision for the nation’s progress that is both ambitious and inspiring.
