President Droupadi Murmu addresses nation on the eve of 75th Republic Day

New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu addressed the nation on the eve of 75th Republic Day on Thursday. In her address, she emphasized the significance of the newly constructed Ram Temple in Ayodhya, describing it as a magnificent testament to the faith and trust of the people in the judicial process. The president delivered her remarks on the eve of India’s 75th Republic Day celebration.

She commended the consecration ceremony of Lord Ram at the temple, suggesting that future historians will regard it as a landmark moment in India’s ongoing rediscovery of its rich civilizational heritage. She underscored that the temple’s construction was carried out following a thorough judicial process and under the purview of the highest court in the country.

Turning her attention to global conflicts, President Murmu expressed her concern about the emergence of conflicts worldwide. She called for the resolution of these conflicts through reasoned dialogue and regretted that fears and prejudices have fueled violence in many instances, resulting in humanitarian tragedies on a large scale. President Murmu conveyed India’s empathy for the suffering caused by these crises.

President emphasized India’s ancient wisdom as a potential solution to the global environmental crisis. She expressed pride in India’s leadership in promoting renewable energy sources and its active role in global climate action, highlighting the ‘LiFE Movement’ aimed at fostering an environment-conscious lifestyle. She noted the global community’s recognition of India’s focus on individual behavior change to address climate change challenges.

Referring to the successful hosting of the G20 Summit in New Delhi, President pointed out that the event provided valuable lessons in involving citizens in strategic and diplomatic matters that will shape their future. She highlighted India’s growing prominence as the voice of the Global South in international discourse, adding a vital perspective to global conversations.

President also expressed confidence in the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam as a revolutionary tool for women’s empowerment and improved governance. She noted that increased female participation in collective decision-making would align administrative priorities more closely with the needs of the masses.

On the space exploration front, President Murmu celebrated India’s achievements, including its successful lunar mission and the launch of the Aditya L1 solar mission. She revealed that preparations for the Gaganyaan mission, India’s first human spaceflight program, were proceeding smoothly. She commended Indian scientists and technology experts for their dedication and high ambitions, stressing that India’s space program aimed to benefit all of humanity.

Discussing India’s economic growth, President Murmu highlighted that the country’s GDP growth rate remained the highest among major economies in recent years. She expressed optimism that this exceptional performance would continue in 2024 and beyond, with a focus on inclusive development, including the provision of free food grains to over 81 crore people for five years.

President Murmu concluded her address by calling on citizens to uphold their Fundamental Duties as enshrined in the Constitution, emphasizing the opportunity for an epochal transformation. She also praised Indian sportspersons for their remarkable achievements, with India securing a record-breaking medal tally in the Asian Games and the Asian Para Games.

Lastly, President Murmu saluted the valiant members of the Armed Forces, Police, and Para-military Forces for their unwavering dedication and vigilance, which have been instrumental in India’s progress and prosperity.
