SAIL Launches Progressive HR Initiatives to Promote Learning and Development

New Delhi: Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has initiated a series of progressive Human Resource (HR) initiatives aimed at fostering a culture of continuous learning and development within the organization. Launched on Tuesday, these initiatives are designed to enhance employee engagement and motivation.

One of the key initiatives introduced by SAIL is the Work from other than Workplace (WoW) policy, inaugurated by SAIL Chairman Shri Amarendu Prakash. This policy allows employees to work from a location other than their designated workplace, provided they are engaged in prescribed self-development activities. The WoW policy is intended to empower employees to focus on strategic responsibilities, even when working remotely, thereby promoting professional development and a healthy work-life balance.

Speaking about the WoW policy, SAIL Chairman emphasized its significance in enabling employees to invest in their professional growth and well-being. Shri KK Singh, Director (Personnel) at SAIL, highlighted the company’s commitment to implementing innovative HR practices to enhance employee motivation and engagement. He mentioned that the WoW policy is a step in this direction.

In addition to the WoW policy, SAIL has partnered with LinkedIn Learning Hub to offer self-paced learning opportunities to a large number of employees. This partnership aims to enrich employees’ knowledge across various domains, fostering continuous professional development.

SAIL’s efforts towards employee welfare and engagement have been recognized, as the company was recently certified as a “Great Place to Work” by the Great Place to Work Institute, India, for the period December 2023 to December 2024. This certification underscores SAIL’s commitment to being a reputable and desirable employer, further motivating the company to continue its efforts towards employee well-being and development.
