Lucknow : As the Maha Kumbh approaches, the Yogi government has ramped up security measures to ensure the safety of the millions of pilgrims expected to attend the event. In a pioneering move, underwater drones will be deployed for the first time in history to monitor activities beneath the waters of the Kumbh site, adding an extra layer of surveillance to the already comprehensive air and land security arrangements.

With an estimated 45 crore people expected to attend the world’s largest cultural event, the Yogi government is committed to ensuring the safety of every individual. These advanced underwater drones, capable of operating up to a depth of 100 meters, will monitor the waters 24/7, even in total darkness. Equipped with cutting-edge technology, the drones will provide real-time data and send reports to the Integrated Command and Control Center (I-CCC), ensuring prompt action in case of any suspicious activity.

Dr. Rajeev Narayan Mishra, the In-Charge Police IG of the Eastern Zone, Prayagraj, recently launched the drones, highlighting their ability to operate at high speeds and over unlimited distances underwater. “These drones will be crucial in monitoring activities below the surface, providing accurate and timely information that will allow us to respond quickly to any potential threats,” he said.

In addition to the underwater drones, other security measures are being put in place. A coordinated effort between the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) will ensure the safety of pilgrims. Around 700 boats equipped with flags will be staffed by PAC, NDRF, and SDRF personnel, offering round-the-clock vigilance. Furthermore, remote-controlled life buoys will be deployed to quickly evacuate individuals in distress, enhancing safety for both domestic and international visitors.

These proactive security arrangements reflect the Yogi government’s commitment to making the Maha Kumbh a safe and peaceful event for all attendees.
