Coal Minister Unveils Key Projects for CCL Employees, Boosting Safety & Housing

Ranchi: The Union Minister of Coal and Mines, G. Kishan Reddy, launched two major projects for Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) at the Gandhinagar Residential Complex in Ranchi. The projects include the inauguration of a state-of-the-art Safety Training Centre and the foundation stone laying for multi-storey residential buildings for CCL personnel.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Aditya Prasad, Rajya Sabha MP, Mahua Maji, Rajya Sabha MP, Suresh Kumar Baitha, MLA, Kanke, along with senior officials such as Vikram Dev Dutt, Secretary, Ministry of Coal, and P.M. Prasad, Chairman of Coal India, among others.

The minister inaugurated the newly built Safety Training Centre at Gandhinagar, which has been completed at a cost of Rs 2.33 crore. The facility is designed to provide advanced training for over 1,600 current and future security personnel of CCL. The centre features modern amenities, including a 40-bed dormitory, classrooms, gymnasium, and a dining hall. This project aims to enhance the skills, discipline, and efficiency of CCL’s security staff.

In a further commitment to the welfare of CCL employees, Reddy laid the foundation stone for four multi-storey residential towers at the Gandhinagar complex. The Rs 77.63 crore projects will consist of 112 residential units, with a mix of B-type, C-type, and D-type flats. Designed as Green Buildings, these structures will include community parks, badminton courts, and walking areas. Construction is set to begin in January 2025, with a completion target of January 2027.

During his visit, Minister Reddy also met with Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren to discuss key issues related to the coal industry, including the expansion of coal production and the country’s energy security. The meeting also focused on enhancing coordination between the state government and coal stakeholders.

Following the high-level discussions, Minister Reddy conducted a review meeting with officials from CCL, BCCL, ECL, and CMPDIL to assess coal production, employee welfare, and future development plans. The session saw participation from top executives, including P.M. Prasad, Chairman of Coal India, and other senior officials.

These initiatives are a testament to the government’s commitment to improving the living standards of CCL employees and contributing to regional development. By upgrading housing, security, and health facilities, these projects are poised to benefit CCL personnel and their families while fostering broader community growth. Local residents and dignitaries at the event lauded the government’s efforts to drive local development and enhance the well-being of employees in the region.
