Bokaro: In a bid to foster skill-based learning and hands-on exposure, the school organized a series of Bagless Day activities aimed at encouraging students to explore self-employment as a career option beyond traditional academics.
The activities, which concluded today, included a Robotics workshop, Legal and Financial Literacy sessions, Coding, Calculation Skills, Jewellery Design, and various sports and games.
As part of the initiative, the school launched a Composite Skill Lab, fully equipped to implement the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE).
Thirty-two students from classes VI to VIII participated in the Robotics workshop, where they built 40 prototype robots with unique functionalities such as the Line Follower Robot, Fire Fighting Robot, Wi-Fi Controlled Robot, Mars Rover, Bluetooth Controlled Robot, Hand Gesture Robot, Smart Street Light, and Smart Dustbin.
The robots, including the Line Follower Robot designed for industrial and medical applications, the Fire Fighting Robot, and the Wi-Fi Controlled Robot that can be remotely operated, impressed visitors and parents alike. The Smart Street Light and Smart Dustbin, designed for energy efficiency and automation, also garnered praise for their innovation.
In addition to the technical workshops, students learned about consumer rights, budgeting, investing, taxation, and personal financial management through the Legal and Financial Literacy sessions. The Calculation Skills workshop helped students improve their competitive exam performance, while the Jewellery Design activity showcased their creativity.
For younger students in the Primary Wing, a special camp featured a variety of activities such as sports, arts and crafts, fireless cooking, Zumba, and yoga.
Principal Dr. A. S. Gangwar emphasized that Bagless Days offer students a break from conventional learning, reduce stress, and encourage creative exploration. He noted, “Skill-based learning activities help students understand the importance of vocational skills in the modern job market.”
