New Delhi: Amid rising tensions with India, Pakistan has called for China and Russia to participate in an international investigation into the recent terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, news agency PTI reported.
On April 22, terrorists opened fire in Pahalgam, killing 26 people, mostly tourists, in the deadliest attack since Pulwama in 2019.
The Resistance Front (TRF), a proxy of Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), initially claimed responsibility before retracting four days later, alleging its digital accounts may have been hacked by Indian authorities.

In an interview with Russia’s RIA Novosti, Pakistan Defence Minister Khawaja Asif suggested that Beijing, Moscow, or even Western nations could help form an independent investigation team.
“They could determine whether India or Prime Minister Modi is telling the truth. Let an international team find out,” Asif said.
Notably, On April 22, gunshots rang out in Pahalgam’s Baisaran Valley as terrorists opened fire, killing 26 people, predominantly non-Muslim tourists, in one of the deadliest attacks in the region in five years. Survivors recounted that the attackers questioned some victims about their religion and demanded they recite Islamic verses. Those who were unable or hesitant were shot in the head.
