Jamshedpur: Xavier School of Management (XLRI), in association with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), successfully organized the Business-Biodiversity Conclave at its Jamshedpur campus. The event gathered leaders from academia, industry, government, and global organizations to discuss integrating biodiversity into business strategy.
The conclave was inaugurated with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony, followed by a welcome address by Prof. Tata L. Raghu Ram, highlighting XLRI’s commitment to sustainable leadership. Dr. Yashveer Bhatnagar from IUCN shared insights on private sector engagement in conservation, while Dean Academics Prof. Sanjay Patro reflected on XLRI’s long-standing focus on sustainability.
Tata Steel Foundation CEO Sourav Roy emphasized aligning corporate decisions with grassroots biodiversity needs. Delivering the keynote, Ms. Shailja Singh, IFS, urged businesses to move beyond compliance and leverage technologies like AI, ML, and IoT for conservation.
The session, moderated by Prof. Raghu Ram, explored actionable strategies, including biodiversity offsets, invasive species management, TNFD frameworks, and innovative insurance solutions. Speakers stressed that proactive biodiversity stewardship is crucial for ecological integrity and sustainable business growth.
The conclave reaffirmed XLRI’s mission to nurture responsible leaders dedicated to creating nature-positive impact.
