Pak Senator Sparks Controversy, Claims Army Will Lay ‘First Brick’ of Babri Mosque in Ayodhya

News Desk: Amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, a provocative statement by Pakistani Senator Palwasha Mohammad Zai Khan has stirred fresh controversy and drawn sharp criticism.

In a widely circulated video of her speech delivered in Pakistan’s Upper House, the senator declared that “Pakistan Army soldiers will lay the first brick of the new Babri mosque in Ayodhya,” referencing the disputed religious site in India that was demolished in 1992. She further claimed that Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir would deliver the first azaan (Islamic call to prayer) at the site.

The comments, laced with religious fervor and military rhetoric, have gone viral on social media and are being viewed as a deliberate provocation during a sensitive moment in regional relations. Senator Khan also sought to invoke Sikh religious sentiments, asserting that Sikh soldiers in India would refuse to fight against Pakistan in any conflict, citing Pakistan as the “land of Guru Nanak.”

Her statements, widely criticized for inflaming religious and nationalistic sentiments, come in the wake of India’s condemnation of Pakistan-based terror groups following the massacre of 26 civilians in Pahalgam on April 22, allegedly carried out by The Resistance Front (TRF), an offshoot of Lashkar-e-Taiba.

While there has been no official response yet from Islamabad or Rawalpindi, Indian political analysts have called the remarks “reckless and inflammatory,” warning that such rhetoric could further damage already strained bilateral ties.

As tensions remain high, the international community continues to watch closely for any further escalations between the two nuclear-armed neighbors.
