New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu today presented a total of six Kirti Chakras, including four posthumously, and 33 Shaurya Chakras, including seven posthumously, during Phase-I of the Defence Investiture Ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhawan.

The awards were conferred on personnel from the Armed Forces, Central Armed Police Forces, and State/UT Police, recognizing extraordinary acts of bravery and sacrifice.

Among the recipients of the Kirti Chakra—India’s second-highest peacetime gallantry award—were Rifleman Ravi Kumar, Colonel Manpreet Singh, Dy SP Himanyun Muzzammil Bhat, and Naik Dilwar Khan (all posthumously), as well as Major Malla Rama Gopal Naidu of the Maratha Light Infantry and Major Manjit of The Punjab Regiment.

The Shaurya Chakra, awarded for exceptional courage not in direct confrontation with the enemy, was posthumously awarded to Major Aashish Dhonchak, Sepoy Pardeep Singh, Havildar Rohit Kumar, Constable Pawan Kumar, Constable Devan C, Vijayan Kutty G, and Captain Deepak Singh.

The honoured personnel demonstrated extraordinary valour in counter-terrorism, counter-insurgency, anti-piracy operations, and emergency rescue missions, particularly in Jammu & Kashmir, the North-East, and at sea.

The Gallantry Awards highlight the unwavering courage and selflessness of India’s uniformed forces in the face of extreme danger, often at the cost of their lives.
