Delhi lashed by heavy rain, thunderstorms, strong winds disrupt flights, roads waterlogged

RNS: Delhi and surrounding regions were battered by intense overnight rains, thunderstorms, and strong winds, disrupting flight operations and causing widespread waterlogging. Winds gusted up to 82 kmph, and 81.2 mm of rainfall was recorded between 11:30 pm and 5:30 am.

Areas including Moti Bagh, Minto Road, Delhi Cantonment, and Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg saw severe waterlogging and uprooted trees.

Operations at Indira Gandhi International Airport were hit, with IndiGo reporting disruptions around 4 am. While normalcy briefly returned, delays continued later in the morning.

Heavy rains also affected parts of Uttarakhand and Haryana. The IMD had issued a red alert, warning of severe thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds, and urged residents to avoid open spaces, unstable structures, and water bodies.
