From Dhanbad to Aberdeen: Prof. Sarkar’s Global Scholar Journey Begins

Dhanbad: Professor Shibayan Sarkar, Associate Professor in Mechanical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad, has been selected as a Global Scholar by Robert Gordon University (RGU) in Aberdeen, Scotland.

He will visit RGU from July 1 to July 31, 2025, under the university’s prestigious Global Scholar Programme aimed at promoting international research collaboration.

During his month-long stay, Professor Sarkar will collaborate with Professor Mamdud Hossain on joint research grant proposals and publications. He will also engage in various academic activities including university-wide lectures, interdisciplinary workshops, and interactions with faculty and postgraduate research communities.

Professor Sarkar holds degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Water Resources from Jadavpur University and earned his Ph.D. from IIT Roorkee. His expertise lies in hydraulic turbines, pipe networks, and water resource management, with numerous contributions to international journals and conferences.

The RGU Global Scholar Programme invites leading researchers worldwide to foster scholarly exchange and collaborative projects. Professor Sarkar’s invitation underscores both his individual achievements and IIT-ISM’s expanding footprint in global academia.
