Ranchi: Renowned Kargil War hero and former Indian Army Chief, General Ved Prakash Malik (Retd.), delivered a powerful keynote address at the Golden Jubilee Lecture Series celebrating 50 years of Coal India and Central Coalfields Limited (CCL). The event took place at the Sangam Auditorium, Gangotri Convention Center, CCL Headquarters.
The session began with a warm welcome from CCL Chairman-cum-Managing Director Nilendu Kumar Singh, setting the tone for a celebration of Coal India’s illustrious five-decade journey.
General Malik praised Coal India and the Indian Army as two of the country’s most trusted institutions, emphasizing their shared commitment to winning through leadership, discipline, and service. Reflecting on historic military operations like Operation Vijay and the recent Operation Sindoor, he called on all institutions to embody the principles of “Naam, Namak, and Nishan” — honor, loyalty, and identity.
The event was attended by senior executives from CCL and Coal India, trade union representatives, and hundreds of employees. It concluded with an engaging question-and-answer session and was broadcast live to a broad audience.
CMD Nilendu Kumar Singh expressed his pride in hosting General Malik, highlighting the event as a testament to CCL’s dedication to national service and sustainable development. This lecture series, championed by Coal India Chairman P.M. Prasad, seeks to inspire employees by sharing powerful stories of patriotism and leadership.
