Ranchi: In a major boost to sports education and professional volleyball training in India, Jharkhand is set to host an exclusive internship program for postgraduate students specializing in volleyball. This initiative, being introduced for the first time in the 2024–25 academic session, marks a proud and promising moment for the state’s growing reputation in the world of sports.
The internship program is being launched under the joint aegis of the Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education (LNIPE), Gwalior—a premier institution under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India—and the Mongia National Volleyball Academy (MNVA), Giridih, a rising powerhouse in volleyball training.
Dr. Jaideep Sarkar, Olympic Educator, Chief Coach of the Indian Men’s Volleyball Team (2023) and Secretary General of MNVA informed that, the “Internship cum Assessment Program” will be conducted from 10 June to 10 August 2025. This will also open new horizons for the upcoming generation blending performance sports with the significant avenues of Sports Academics & Sports Education.
It will provide young postgraduate trainees from across the country a rare and prestigious opportunity to undergo intensive training, assessment and evaluation under the guidance of Volleyball experts of International/National accreditation, all based in Jharkhand, he said.
“This is a milestone for the state and a proud moment for the Indian volleyball community,” said Dr. Jaideep adding, “For the first time, postgraduate volleyball education candidates from premier institutes will be able to complete their practical training right here in Jharkhand, under the supervision of accomplished professionals from the region.”
The internship will not only involve advanced skill-building sessions but also structured assessments overseen by examiners and supervisors who are seasoned volleyball experts from Jharkhand. The program aims to bridge the gap between theoretical sports education and professional coaching, aligning with national goals of elevating India’s sports infrastructure and human resource development.
With this initiative, Jharkhand is poised to become a new hub for high-level volleyball training and education, potentially paving the way for similar ventures in other sports disciplines in the future.
