Bokaro: Marking Menstrual Hygiene Day, ESL Steel Limited, a subsidiary of the Vedanta Group, organized a focused awareness session at Nandghar, Bandhdih, with the objective of educating local women and adolescent girls on menstrual health, hygiene, and wellness.
The session witnessed active participation from over 60 women and girls from the surrounding community. It created a safe space for open conversation on menstruation—an essential yet often stigmatized subject—helping to break long-standing taboos and promote informed, healthy practices.
Meenakshi Sabharwal, Chief Quality Officer at ESL Steel Limited, attended the event as the Chief Guest. In her address, she highlighted the importance of menstrual hygiene in safeguarding women’s health and dignity.
“Menstrual hygiene is not merely a health matter—it is a question of dignity and empowerment,” she remarked. “By speaking up today, we pave the way for a more inclusive and healthier tomorrow.”
Abha Kumari, a government health counselor, who conducted an engaging session on practical menstrual care and addressed participant queries through an interactive Q&A segment.
To support the community with tangible resources, sanitary pads were distributed to all attendees, underlining ESL’s commitment to accessible hygiene solutions.
This initiative is part of ESL’s broader Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts, which emphasize community health, women’s empowerment, and inclusive education. Through consistent grassroots engagement, ESL Steel continues to champion social development and uplift marginalized groups in its operational areas.
