New Delhi: Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has voiced disappointment over Colombia’s condolence message for casualties resulting from India’s Operation Sindoor, which targeted terrorist camps in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.
Leading an all-party delegation, Tharoor said Colombia’s reaction appeared to sympathize with those killed in Pakistan rather than with the victims of terrorism in India. “We were a little disappointed in the Colombian government’s reaction, which expressed heartfelt condolences for lives lost in Pakistan, rather than standing with the victims of terrorism,” he stated.

Tharoor strongly rejected any moral equivalence between terrorist actors and national defence forces. “There can be no comparison between those who dispatch terrorists and those who resist them. We acted in self-defence,” he said, adding that India is open to engaging with Colombia to clarify any misunderstandings.
Highlighting evidence linking the Pahalgam attack to Lashkar-e-Taiba, he noted, “The Resistance Front, a Lashkar proxy based in Muridke, Pakistan, claimed responsibility for the attack.” Drawing a parallel between the two nations, Tharoor added, “Just as Colombia has endured its share of terrorism, so has India—for nearly four decades.”
India’s Operation Sindoor reportedly destroyed nine terror camps across the Line of Control in a retaliatory strike, marking a significant escalation following the deadly Pahalgam incident.
