Kanpur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 15 development projects worth Rs 47,600 crore in Kanpur, while strongly asserting India’s unwavering stance against terrorism in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack.
Addressing a massive crowd at Chandrashekhar Azad Agricultural University, the Prime Minister lauded the Indian Army’s bold response under Operation Sindoor, calling it a stern message to Pakistan.
“The operation has only paused—not ended. Wherever the enemy is seen, they will be gripped by fear,” Modi declared. He emphasized that India now defines its own terms of engagement, saying, “Each terror attack will be avenged, and the timing and method will be decided by our forces.”

Referring to the martyrdom of Kanpur’s Shubham Dwivedi, a victim of the Pahalgam attack, Modi shared a personal moment with the audience. “We all feel the pain of his family, especially his wife Aishnya. The nation’s daughters have responded with strength through Operation Sindoor,” he said.
Earlier at Chakeri Airport, the PM met Shubham’s grieving family, including his wife and parents. Sources said Modi was visibly moved, consoling them with words of strength and solidarity.
Modi also dismissed nuclear threats, stating India would not be intimidated and would treat terrorist sponsors and perpetrators alike. “India now sees the masterminds and their protectors through the same lens,” he said.
Joining the Prime Minister, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath praised Operation Sindoor as a continuation of India’s evolving military doctrine, including past surgical and air strikes. “The world now views India’s strength as an example,” Yogi said.
The event saw high security, Covid safety protocols, and strong public enthusiasm. Many attendees sported ‘Operation Sindoor’ T-shirts, while police restricted entry of individuals in black clothing as a precautionary measure.
This marked PM Modi’s eighth visit to Kanpur and second to Uttar Pradesh in recent weeks, underscoring the region’s political and strategic significance.
