Woman Attempts Suicide by Climbing Live Wire Pole, Survives Miraculously

Gaya: A high-voltage drama unfolded in Bihar’s Gaya district on Friday when a 22-year-old woman, Soni Devi, attempted to climb a 30-foot electricity pole after a heated argument with her sister-in-law. The incident occurred in Mayapur village under Fatehpur police station area.

According to reports, Soni, who has been living with her maternal family since her husband’s death, got into a quarrel with her sister-in-law. Upset by the exchange, she stormed out and scaled an 11KV live electric pole, coming dangerously close to high-tension wires carrying lethal current.

Panic gripped the villagers as she refused to come down. Fortunately, a local youth acted swiftly and contacted the electricity department, which promptly cut power supply to the area—averting a near-certain tragedy.

After much persuasion, Soni eventually descended but fainted on the spot due to heat and emotional stress. She was rushed to the hospital and is currently stable. Villagers say she has been under emotional distress for some time.

Police reached the spot upon receiving a Dial-112 call and confirmed that the woman is now safe. A video of the incident has also gone viral on social media.
