DPS Chas Observes 11th International Yoga Day with Enthusiasm and Mind-Body Harmony

Chas/Bokaro: Delhi Public School (DPS) Chas celebrated the 11th International Yoga Day with great enthusiasm, blending tradition with awareness on the importance of holistic well-being. The event saw active participation from students across all classes — from Pre-Nursery to Class XII — as well as faculty members, who came together to embrace the ancient Indian practice of yoga.

The celebration began with the soulful chanting of the Gayatri Mantra, setting a calm and spiritual tone for the session. This was followed by a guided yoga practice, featuring a series of essential asanas such as Padmasana, Sukhasana, Tadasana, Bhujangasana, and ending with the relaxing Shavasana. Special exercises aimed at reducing stress and enhancing flexibility were also included, creating a refreshing and soothing experience for all participants.

Physical Education instructors Rahul Pratap, Akash Kumar, and Khushboo Kumari led the session with zeal and precision, ensuring active engagement from both students and teachers. The collective energy and discipline on display reflected the school’s ongoing commitment to nurturing both physical health and mental peace through yoga.

Highlighting the cultural and spiritual roots of yoga, Dr. Hemlata S. Mohan, Chief Mentor of DPS Chas, remarked, “Yoga has been a pathway to physical, mental, and spiritual empowerment since the Vedic times. It enables harmony between the self and nature, fostering a peaceful and balanced life.” She encouraged everyone to integrate yoga into their daily lives for long-term well-being.

School Director and Principal Dr. Manisha Tiwari echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing that “Yoga is much more than a fitness regimen; it is a means to align our body, senses, and environment. Incorporating yoga into everyday life can lead to healthier, more focused living.”

Recognizing its transformative potential, DPS Chas has integrated yoga as a core element of its educational curriculum, aiming to instill discipline, focus, and mindfulness among students from an early age.

The celebration not only honored India’s gift of yoga to the world, but also reinforced the school’s commitment to holistic education — balancing academic excellence with inner well-being.
