New Delhi: Over 500 Indian nationals have been safely evacuated from Iran under Operation Sindhu, an ongoing rescue effort initiated by the Government of India amid escalating conflict between Israel and Iran.
A special evacuation flight from Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, landed in New Delhi early Friday morning, bringing home another group of Indian citizens. With this, the total number of evacuees has reached 517. Another flight carrying 290 Indians had arrived late Thursday night.
Launched in response to the deteriorating security situation in the region, Operation Sindhu is being coordinated by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and the Indian Embassy in Tehran. The mission involves relocating Indian nationals from high-risk zones in Iran to safer areas, followed by organized airlifts using viable exit routes.
Indian nationals in Iran have been urged to remain in close contact with the Embassy through its emergency helplines and the 24×7 MEA Control Room in New Delhi. They are advised to follow all safety instructions and updates issued by Indian authorities.
