Visakhapatnam: Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the 11th International Day of Yoga celebrations from the scenic coastline of Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh. Addressing a massive gathering, he described yoga as a powerful instrument for healing in a world facing rising stress, conflict, and imbalance.
“Yoga is Humanity’s Pause Button”: PM Modi
Calling yoga “the pause button humanity needs — to breathe, to balance, to become whole again,” the Prime Minister urged citizens worldwide to embrace yoga not just as a personal discipline but as a tool for global transformation and peace.
Modi’s Call for ‘Yoga for Humanity 2.0’
Proposing a global vision — Yoga for Humanity 2.0 — PM Modi urged nations to incorporate yoga into public policy, where inner peace becomes a universal goal. He said yoga can help the world move “from conflict to cooperation and from stress to solutions.”
India Backs Yoga with Modern Research
Highlighting India’s leadership in combining tradition with science, PM Modi noted that premier medical institutions like AIIMS are conducting evidence-based research on yoga. Studies show yoga’s positive effects on heart health, neurological conditions, women’s health, and mental well-being, he said.
Global Support for Yoga Day
PM Modi recalled how India’s 2014 proposal at the United Nations received record support from 175 countries, making June 21 the International Day of Yoga. He said it marked a historic collective step by the world toward human well-being.
Theme 2025 : “Yoga for One Earth, One Health”
The theme for this year — “Yoga for One Earth, One Health” — reflects yoga’s role in aligning individual wellness with global ecological and social balance, he noted.
‘Yogandhra Abhiyan’ in Andhra Pradesh Gets PM Praise
PM Modi commended Chandrababu Naidu and Pawan Kalyan for launching Andhra Pradesh’s Yogandhra Abhiyan, with over 2 crore people participating. He said such mass engagement reflects the true spirit of a Viksit Bharat (Developed India).
Massive Gathering in Visakhapatnam
The main event saw over 2.72 lakh participants, a 45-minute yoga session, and a flypast by the Eastern Naval Command, blending India’s ancient wellness traditions with national pride.

In Srinagar, BJP activists and locals performed yoga at Lal Chowk’s Ghanta Ghar, a politically symbolic site in the Kashmir Valley.
In Delhi, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta led the “Yoga with Yamuna” event, performing asanas on the river with children and kayakers waving Indian flags — part of 11 citywide events.
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, along with members of the Diplomatic Corps, took part in a yoga session at Nehru Park in New Delhi. Sharing moments from the event on social media, he echoed PM Modi’s message, calling it a “true reflection of Yoga for everyone, beyond boundaries, backgrounds, age or ability.”
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman marked the occasion by performing yoga at the Arun Jaitley National Institute of Financial Management in Faridabad. She joined officials and staff in observing the day, which coincides with the summer solstice, the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere.
