Bokaro: In a powerful display of compassion and civic responsibility, Vedanta ESL Steel Ltd. joined forces with the Indian Red Cross Society (Bokaro Chapter) and The Citizens Foundation to organize a voluntary blood donation camp at the Occupational Health Centre (OHC), Bokaro.
The initiative, part of ESL’s flagship employee volunteering programme “V for Society”, aimed to combat the ongoing blood shortage in hospitals while nurturing a culture of volunteerism.
Over 60 individuals, including ESL employees, business partners, and local residents, rolled up their sleeves to donate blood—each unit a potential lifesaver.
The camp was inaugurated by Kunal Daripa, Head CSR, ESL, and attended by several dignitaries includes, Suresh Kumar Bhudiya, Head of Disaster Management, Indian Red Cross Society, D. N. Choubey, Chairman, Red Cross Society, Bokaro, Dr. Praveen Pitta, Chief Medical Officer, ESL and others.
Speaking on the occasion, Kunal Daripa praised the donors’ spirit, stating, “This drive symbolizes the incredible impact we can make when we unite for a common cause. Our employees and partners have truly exemplified community-first thinking.”
Dr. Praveen Pitta echoed the sentiment, adding, “Beyond saving lives, blood donation strengthens the human bond. Today’s event reflects ESL’s unwavering commitment to inclusive growth and public well-being.”
The Indian Red Cross Society oversaw the safe and medically sound collection of blood, reinforcing its role as a frontline humanitarian force in health and disaster management.
The Citizens Foundation, co-organizers of the event, brought their deep grassroots presence to the initiative. Founded by Ganesh Reddy, the Foundation has positively impacted over a million lives through projects in health, livelihoods, and natural resource management across multiple Indian states.
This initiative underscores Vedanta ESL’s continued mission of “Transforming for Good”—a pledge to uplift communities through meaningful, sustainable action.
