Patna/Gaya: The Mahagathbandhan’s protest against the ongoing re-verification of the voter list in Bihar intensified on Tuesday, with Congress leader Akhouri Omkar, popularly known as Mohan Srivastava, arriving in Patna from Gaya along with over 500 supporters to participate in the statewide bandh.

The protest, marked by chakka jam (road blockade) in several parts of the state capital, was held under the leadership of Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, as part of the alliance’s broader opposition to what it calls a targeted and undemocratic voter verification drive.

Srivastava’s presence added momentum to the protest in Patna, reflecting growing discontent within the opposition ranks. Alongside him, several key leaders from Gaya were also present, including Gaya Municipal Corporation Mayor Virendra Kumar alias Ganesh Paswan, and prominent Congress figures Rajneesh Kumar Jhunna, Jitendra Verma, Vinod Yadav, Saurabh Sharma, Randhir Rajak, Ravi Paswan, Neeraj Chandravanshi, Sonu Singh, Dharmendra Nirala, Bhola Mian, and Shiv Chaurasia.

The Mahagathbandhan continues to oppose the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) campaign, alleging that the exercise is aimed at disenfranchising Dalits, minorities, and economically weaker sections in the run-up to the state elections.
