New Delhi: Panic gripped residents across Delhi-NCR on Thursday morning after a 4.4 magnitude earthquake struck Haryana’s Jhajjar district at 9:04 am, triggering strong tremors across the region.
The tremors, though brief, were felt widely in Delhi, Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad, and Ghaziabad, prompting people to rush out of homes and office buildings in fear. Mild shaking was also reported from parts of Rajasthan and western Uttar Pradesh.
According to initial reports, there has been no loss of life or damage to property so far.
Footage on social media showed people gathering in open spaces, with many visibly alarmed by the sudden jolt. Emergency protocols were briefly activated in several residential and commercial areas.
The National Center for Seismology confirmed the quake’s epicenter as Jhajjar, Haryana. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation.
