Instagram Reel Turns Deadly: Gurugram Tennis Player Radhika Yadav Killed by Father

Gurugram: In a shocking incident that has rocked the sports community, 25-year-old state-level tennis player Radhika Yadav was allegedly shot dead by her father in Gurugram following an argument over an Instagram video reel.

The tragedy unfolded around 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at the Yadav family’s home in Sector 57, where Radhika also ran a private tennis academy. According to police, her father Deepak Yadav, enraged over the social media content, opened fire on her using his licensed revolver. Out of five bullets fired, three struck Radhika, leading to her death on the spot.

Police were alerted when a woman with bullet wounds was brought dead to a local hospital. A team immediately rushed to the residence, where they discovered the crime scene. The weapon has been recovered, and Deepak Yadav has been arrested.

During initial questioning, Deepak confessed to killing his daughter, police said. The FIR was registered based on a complaint filed by the accused’s brother. Preliminary findings suggest Deepak was also upset with Radhika for managing the tennis academy independently.

Radhika Yadav, born on March 23, 2000, was a promising talent in Indian tennis. She had competed on the International Tennis Federation (ITF) circuit, earning 10 points and achieving a career-high ranking of 113. Known for her performances in both national and international tournaments, she had carved a niche for herself in junior and senior competitions alike.

The incident has left the local sporting community in mourning, with many demanding a swift and thorough investigation.
