Gaya, Bihar: In a bid to support the State Election Commission’s Special Voter List Revision programme, the Janata Dal (United) continued its voter awareness campaign in Gaya for the third consecutive day on Thursday.
Under the leadership of JDU Metropolitan District President Rajkumar Prasad alias Raju Barnwal, the party organized a voter awareness convoy and prabhat pheri that moved through key city areas including Azad Park, GB Road, New Godown, Tutwari Road, and Dukh Harni Mandir.
Hundreds of party workers, local intellectuals, and members of the district executive actively participated. The campaign involved door-to-door outreach, urging residents to get their names added or corrected in the voter list and reminding them of their voting rights.
Speaking to The Researcher (English Edition), Raju Barnwal said,
“This is not just a campaign, but a movement to strengthen the foundation of democracy. JDU is committed to ensuring that every eligible citizen is on the voter list and fully aware of their democratic rights.”
To streamline the campaign, JDU formed teams for every three municipal wards. Early morning rallies echoed with awareness slogans, while volunteers also informed citizens about various Bihar government schemes and achievements.
Prominent participants included Lalji Prasad, Sanjay Kumar Singh alias Sanju, Adv. Sunil Kumar, Prabhat Raut, Gopal Prasad, Shiv Shankar Das, Mahendra Barnwal, Manik Chand Gupta, Hebulu Pandey, Arjun Ram, and Amar Singh Chandravanshi, among others.
JDU’s initiative aims to ensure maximum public participation in the voter list revision exercise ahead of the upcoming state elections.
