Motihari: In a major infrastructure boost ahead of the upcoming elections, Bihar Road Construction Minister Nitin Naveen on Sunday laid the foundation stone for development projects worth over ₹200 crore in East Champaran. The schemes, launched in Chakia and Motihari, aim to transform the region’s road connectivity and urban infrastructure.

Speaking to reporters, Naveen said the government is committed to modernizing Motihari’s civic landscape and improving transport efficiency. As part of the initiative, key roads in Pipra and Motihari will be widened, strengthened, and equipped with drains and paver blocks.

Two major stretches—Tetaria Narha–Narwara (12.10 km) and Chakia–Madhurapur (13 km)—will be upgraded at a cost of ₹100 crore. Another ₹30 crore will be spent on five urban road projects in Motihari, including key links from the Block Office to the Government Bus Stand and from Bariyarpur to Airport Chowk.

The minister said tenders have been issued and work will commence soon, promising smoother travel and better public amenities for local residents.
