10,000 Postcards to PM: Bokaro Rallies Behind Steel Plant Expansion
Bokaro: In support of the proposed expansion of Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL), a major public movement is set to begin with a seminar on August 3 under the banner of the “Mahasignature Abhiyan.”
The initiative aims to mobilise widespread public support, highlight local aspirations, and push for the project’s immediate implementation.
In a decisive move to build public pressure for the expansion of Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) and the upgradation of Bokaro General Hospital, a meeting led by displaced leader Sunil Kumar Mahato in Sector 3 announced that 10,000 postcards will be sent to the Prime Minister, along with a massive two-lakh signature campaign across the district.
Speakers at the meeting, including Kumar Amit, stressed that only through the BSL expansion can issues faced by displaced communities, jobless youth, and workers be addressed. “This is not just Bokaro’s dream—it’s Jharkhand’s leap forward,” he said.
Leaders Nivaran Prasad Mahato and Sandeep Kumar highlighted that the project would create new job avenues for displaced youth, strengthen rural development, and fulfill workers’ long-pending demands.
Mahato called on BSL to prioritize local apprentice youth in recruitment while ensuring displaced rights are protected.
The meeting was anchored by Dhananjay Choubey and concluded with a vote of thanks by Rakesh Ram. Social leaders from multiple organizations also pledged support for the campaign.
