Gaya: A 26-year-old woman has alleged she was gang-raped inside a moving ambulance after fainting during a physical test for Home Guard recruitment at the Bihar Military Police Grounds in Bodh Gaya on July 24.
The woman, unconscious during transport to a hospital in an ambulance arranged by the event organisers, later claimed to police that she was sexually assaulted by 3–4 men.
A FIR has been filed, and two accused—ambulance driver Vinay Kumar and technician Ajit Kumar—have been arrested. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) is probing the incident.
The case has triggered massive political uproar. RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav condemned the incident, calling it a reflection of the “demonic rule” under the NDA government in Bihar. “If even such brutality fails to stir outrage, it exposes the casteist and biased silence of those in power,” he posted on X.
Union Minister Chirag Paswan, also part of the ruling NDA coalition, slammed the Nitish Kumar-led state government, questioning its failure to prevent such horrific crimes. “Why is the administration unable to stop these incidents?” he asked while addressing the media.
The incident has once again spotlighted the worsening law and order situation in Bihar, with political leaders demanding accountability and immediate action.
