Ramghar: In a step towards cleaner and more efficient operations, Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) and Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) signed an MoU to supply Piped Natural Gas (PNG) to the SAIL-SRU IFICO Plant in Ramgarh.
The agreement was formalized at the Bokaro Steel Plant auditorium in the presence of B. K. Tiwari, Director-in-Charge, BSL, along with senior executives from SAIL-SRU and IOCL.
With PNG replacing furnace oil in the plant’s tunnel kiln, the unit is set to achieve higher fuel efficiency, improved safety, and better refractory brick quality. The shift will also ensure compliance with energy conservation and environmental norms, while significantly cutting down CO₂ emissions and other pollutants.
Officials noted that the initiative underscores SAIL’s commitment to sustainable industrial practices and aligns with the Government of India’s push for clean energy solutions.
