Bokaro: Dr. A. S. Gangwar, Principal of DPS Bokaro and President of Bokaro Yogasana Sports Association, has been unanimously appointed Chief Patron of the Jharkhand Yogasana Sports Association. The decision came during the association’s annual general meeting chaired by Dr. Jaideep Arya, General Secretary of World Yogasana and Yogasana India.
Dr. Gangwar was lauded for his role in giving yoga a sports identity from Bokaro, and for successfully hosting the state-level Yogasana Sports Championship after three district-level events. Association officials, including Dr. Arya and members of the Jharkhand unit, welcomed the decision with applause, calling it exemplary.
In his address, Dr. Gangwar thanked the association for the responsibility and assured full support for strengthening the organization and promoting yoga across the state. He stressed on transparency and collective effort to take the mission forward.
Jharkhand unit president Manoj Tiwari, while presiding over the meeting, congratulated Dr. Gangwar and the team for the smooth conduct of the 6th State Yogasana Sports Competition at DPS Bokaro. He added that efforts are underway to secure hosting rights for the next national-level event, and announced that future competitions will also include a category for children under nine years.
The meeting also discussed upcoming state-level tournaments and expansion plans. Bihar Yogasana Sports Association secretary Dr. Rani Kumari, East Singhbhum president Mrs. Sudha, and other dignitaries emphasized the need to further popularize yoga.
Among those present were state general secretary Chandu Kumar, joint secretary Malay Day, Ranchi secretary Dr. Surjit Ghoshal, executive member Santoshi Kumari, DPS Bokaro vice principal Anjani Bhushan, sports teacher Brajesh Kumar Singh, administrator Rajan Kumar Singh, sports teacher Nibha Kumari, along with other members and office-bearers. Proceedings were conducted by former state secretary Vipin Pandey.
