JJMP Zonal Commander with ₹5 Lakh Bounty Among 9 Naxalites Surrendered in Latehar

Latehar: Nine Naxalites belonging to the Jharkhand Jan Mukti Parishad (JJMP) surrendered before senior officials in Latehar district of Jharkhand; a major success for security forces. The surrender took place in the presence of CRPF IG Saket Kumar Singh, IG (Operations) Michael Raj, Palamu Zonal IG Sunil Bhaskar, and Latehar SP Kumar Gaurav.

The ultras, several of them carrying heavy bounties on their heads, also handed over a huge cache of arms and ammunition, including multiple AK-47 rifles, country-made rifles, and more than 1,600 live cartridges.

Among those who surrendered was Zonal Commander Ravindra Yadav, carrying a bounty of ₹5 lakh and facing 14 criminal cases. He gave up two AK-47 rifles, three other rifles, and over 1,200 rounds of cartridges. Another prominent cadre, Sub-Zonal Commander Akhilesh Ravindra Yadav, also with a ₹5 lakh reward and 10 cases against him, surrendered with an AK-47 and 256 cartridges.

Other key figures included Baldev Ganjhu, Mukesh Ram Yadav, and Pawan alias Ram Prasad, all sub-zonal commanders with multiple cases, besides area commanders Dhruv, Vijay Yadav, Shravan Singh, and Mukesh Ganjhu. Together, they turned in several rifles, four AK-47s, and hundreds of cartridges.

Officials termed the surrender a significant blow to the JJMP’s strength in the Palamu-Latehar belt. They added that the ultras would be brought under the state’s rehabilitation policy, which seeks to reintegrate surrendered Naxalites into the mainstream and reduce extremist violence in Jharkhand.
