PM Modi Welcomes Mauritius PM Ramgoolam in Varanasi

Varanasi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi warmly welcomed Mauritian Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam in the holy city of Varanasi today, as both leaders prepared for high-level bilateral discussions aimed at strengthening strategic ties and boosting development cooperation.

PM Ramgoolam arrived in Varanasi yesterday, where he was received by Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel and honored with a traditional Guard of Honour. Today, at the Varanasi airport, PM Modi was greeted by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, setting the tone for a significant diplomatic engagement.

The bilateral talks will focus on deepening the India-Mauritius Enhanced Strategic Partnership, emphasizing areas of regional cooperation, development projects, and shared cultural heritage. Ahead of the summit, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri met PM Ramgoolam, during which both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to expanding multifaceted collaboration anchored in historic people-to-people connections.

Mauritius Prime Minister Ramgoolam’s visit is part of a week-long state visit to India, running from September 9 to 16, 2025, aimed at enhancing diplomatic and economic relations between the two nations.
