Operation Sindoor: India’s Retaliation Against Terror Launchpads

New Delhi:  In a shocking admission, a senior Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) leader has confirmed that family members of the group’s chief, Masood Azhar, were “torn into pieces” during India’s high-profile Operation Sindoor in Bahawalpur last May.

A video that has now gone viral shows Jaish operative Masood Ilyas Kashmiri openly acknowledging the death of Azhar’s relatives. Speaking under tight security, Kashmiri declared, “Maulana Masood Azhar’s family was torn apart by Indian forces in Bahawalpur,” as quoted by India Today.

Operation Sindoor was launched by the Indian Army as a direct retaliation for the devastating Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, which claimed the lives of 26 people, primarily tourists, in Jammu and Kashmir’s scenic Pahalgam town.

On May 7, Indian forces carried out precision air and ground strikes, targeting and dismantling nine terror camps across Pakistan and PoK. These camps were operated by terror groups including Jaish-e-Mohammad, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen.

Following the strikes, Pakistani media reported efforts to re-establish the destroyed terror launchpads, signaling a persistent threat in the region.

This unprecedented admission by a top JeM leader marks a significant escalation in the ongoing India-Pakistan security confrontation, underlining the high stakes in the cross-border terror battle.
