Arshdeep Singh Becomes First Indian to Take 100 T20I Wickets in Win vs Oman
RNS: India wrapped up their Group A campaign in the Asia Cup T20 with a 21-run victory over Oman at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium on Thursday night.
Opting to bat first, India posted a competitive 188/8 in 20 overs, powered by Sanju Samson’s classy 56 and Abhishek Sharma’s handy 38. Samson was later named Player of the Match for his knock.
Oman put up a spirited chase, finishing at 167/4, with Aamir Kaleem and Hammar Mirza both notching up half-centuries.
For India, the bowling honours were shared as Hardik Pandya, Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana and Kuldeep Yadav picked up a wicket apiece. The highlight, however, was left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh making history as the first Indian bowler to claim 100 wickets in men’s T20 internationals, reaching the milestone by dismissing Oman’s Vinayak Shukla.
The tournament now heads into the Super 4s stage, starting today with Sri Lanka taking on Bangladesh at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. India will face arch-rivals Pakistan tomorrow in their opening Super 4 clash at the same venue, with the match scheduled to begin at 8 PM IST.
