2,616 Candidates in Fray for Bihar Assembly Elections; Polls on November 6 and 11, Results on 14th

Patna: The battle lines are drawn for the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025, with 2,616 candidates left in the fray across 243 constituencies. The polling will be held in two phases — on November 6 and November 11, while the results will be declared on November 14. The tenure of the current Bihar Legislative Assembly ends on November 22.

First Phase: 1,314 Candidates Contesting 121 Seats

After the withdrawal of nominations, 1,314 candidates are contesting in the first phase across 121 assembly constituencies in 18 districts. Of the 1,690 nominations filed, 1,375 were found valid, while 61 candidates withdrew their names. Polling for this phase is scheduled for November 6.

Second Phase: 1,302 Candidates on 122 Seats

In the second and final phase, 1,302 candidates remain in the contest for 122 seats across 20 districts. Out of 1,761 nomination papers, 1,372 were found valid, and 70 candidates withdrew their nominations. Voting for this phase will take place on November 11.

Tightest and Easiest Battles

As per the Chief Electoral Officer of Bihar, the highest number of candidates (22 each) are contesting from Gaya Town (Gaya district), Sasaram (Rohtas), and Chainpur (Kaimur). Meanwhile, the lowest number (five each) are contesting from Triveniganj (Supaul), Lauriya, and Sugauli (East Champaran).

Over 7.4 Crore Voters, 90,000+ Polling Booths

The Election Commission has announced that 7.43 crore registered voters will cast their votes at over 90,712 polling booths across Bihar’s 243 constituencies.

The high-stakes election will determine the next government of Bihar, setting the tone for the state’s political landscape ahead of the Assembly’s term ending in late November.
