PM Modi Applauds Team India’s Remarkable Comeback
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed the triumphant Indian women’s cricket team to his residence at Lok Kalyan Marg, celebrating their sensational World Cup victory and remarkable turnaround after three early defeats in the tournament.
Applauding their grit and dominance on the global stage, the Prime Minister encouraged the champions to become ambassadors of the Fit India movement — especially among young girls battling rising obesity concerns. “Go to your schools and motivate young minds,” he told the cricketers, stressing the importance of a healthier and more active youth.

Team captain Harmanpreet Kaur fondly recalled their previous visit in 2017 — a moment she said lacked only one thing: the trophy. “Hopefully, we return more often with this trophy,” she smiled.
Vice-captain Smriti Mandhana thanked the Prime Minister for his constant motivation and said girls across the country were breaking barriers in every field, drawing inspiration from national leadership. All-rounder Deepti Sharma also reminisced about her earlier interaction with Mr. Modi, where his simple advice — keep working hard — continues to drive her performance.
The meeting ended with cheers, photos and a powerful message — India’s daughters are unstoppable.
