New Delhi: An unprecedented security grid has been activated across the national capital ahead of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit to India, with a five-layer ring of protection involving elite security agencies from both nations, assisted by snipers, drones, jammers, and live AI-based monitoring systems.
According to initial media reports, over 50 members of Russia’s Presidential Security Service landed in Delhi ahead of the visit, conducting detailed reconnaissance and security sweeps across all routes and designated locations connected to Putin’s schedule.
Advanced drones will feed real-time movement and crowd-pattern data to a central command centre, while sharpshooters are being strategically positioned along vantage points covering the President’s route. Teams have already begun sanitising the roads and hotel premises designated for Putin’s stay, ensuring complete lockdown-level preparedness.
Sources familiar with the security blueprint indicated that the outer perimeter will be manned jointly by the National Security Guard (NSG) and Delhi Police, while the inner layers — the most sensitive and proximate to the Russian President — will be controlled exclusively by Putin’s personal security detail.
President Putin will be in India from December 4–5 at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to participate in the 23rd India–Russia Annual Summit — a key diplomatic engagement expected to include discussions on defence cooperation, trade, energy partnerships and global geopolitical alignment.
In an official statement, India’s Ministry of External Affairs said:
“During the visit, President Putin will hold talks with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. Hon’ble Rashtrapatiji will also receive President Putin and host a banquet in his honour.”
