Bokaro: Bokaro police have cracked the sensational murder of Jayant Singh, arresting the alleged mastermind Vinod Kumar alias Khopdi along with five accomplices, bringing a major breakthrough in the high-profile case.
Those arrested include Vinod Kumar alias Khopdi, Manoj Kumar alias Lucy (Sector 8), Sanjay Kumar (Ranipokhar), Anand Kumar (Gurudwara Mohalla, Chas), Varun Kumar (Sector 8), and Sanjay alias Katta (Sector 8). Police have seized a black Alto car, four sticks used in the crime, and two mobile phones from the accused.
Briefing the media, the Superintendent of Police (SP) said Jayant Singh was murdered after he allegedly defied the diktats of Vinod Khopdi, who had emerged as a dominant figure in the city’s criminal network. Jayant’s refusal reportedly bruised Khopdi’s ego, prompting him to orchestrate the killing with the help of his associates.
After the murder, the body was dumped in the Jalebiya forest area under Pirtand police station in Giridih. Acting on information provided by Vinod Khopdi during interrogation, police later recovered the body.
The SP added that several accused are still absconding, and raids are underway to nab them. He also revealed that the investigation was carried out with extreme caution, as sensitive police inputs were allegedly being leaked to the accused by influential individuals, complicating the probe.
“Our aim is to make Bokaro crime-free. The police will leave no stone unturned to ensure that every person involved in this murder is brought to justice,” the SP said.
