Bokaro Sadar Hospital Starts Brain, Spine and Nerve Surgeries
Bokaro: In a major boost to public healthcare in the district, brain, spine and nerve-related treatment and surgeries will now be available at Bokaro Sadar Hospital, Civil Surgeon Dr Abhay Bhushan Prasad announced on Wednesday.
The neurosurgery facility was formally inaugurated on December 17, 2025, and specialised neuro-related OPD and surgical services will be available every Wednesday from 11:00 am at the district hospital.
Addressing the media, Dr Prasad said that specialist doctors for neurological diseases will now regularly attend patients at Sadar Hospital. He added that through sustained efforts and coordination with senior surgeons, arrangements have been made to conduct various specialised surgeries within the district itself.
“As a result of continuous coordination, neurosurgeon Dr D.M. Prasad has been associated with Bokaro Sadar Hospital, and neurosurgery services have officially begun,” the Civil Surgeon said.
No Need to Go Outside Bokaro: Civil Surgeon
Appealing to residents of the district, Dr Prasad said people suffering from brain, spine and nerve-related ailments no longer need to travel outside Bokaro for treatment.
He informed that patients experiencing severe headaches, epilepsy, tremors, brain tumours, repeated vomiting, paralysis, spinal disorders, neck and back pain, head injuries, blood clots in the brain, or tingling and numbness in hands and feet can seek consultation and treatment at Bokaro Sadar Hospital every Wednesday.
Health officials said the introduction of neurosurgery services at the district hospital will significantly reduce the financial and logistical burden on patients and marks an important step towards strengthening advanced medical care in Bokaro.
