Bokaro: Marking the 101st birth anniversary of legendary playback singer Mohammed Rafi, a soulful musical evening was organised on Wednesday at Sector 6C, where Bokaro’s artistes came together to celebrate the timeless voice of Hindi cinema.
Held under the banner of Swaragini Musical Group, the programme began with artistes paying floral tributes to Rafi’s portrait. Speakers described him as a priceless gem of Indian film music, whose unmatched versatility—spanning devotion, romance, pain and joy—continues to inspire generations.
Renowned local singers including Arun Pathak, Raman Chaudhary, Arup Kumar Mishra, music director Manoj Upadhyay (Suman Ji), theatre veteran Shambhu Jha, Neeraj Singh, Gangadhar Mishra and others rendered some of Rafi’s most loved classics. Arun Pathak mesmerised the audience with songs like “Mujhko Mere Baad Zamana Dhoondhega” and “Main Yeh Sochkar Uske Dar Se Utha Tha,” while Raman Chaudhary and Arup Kumar Mishra drew applause with equally moving renditions.
The evening, coordinated by Raman Chaudhary and Ragini Sinha Ambasht, turned into a heartfelt celebration of Rafi Sahab’s immortal legacy—proving once again that while the legend is no more, his voice continues to live on in melody and memory.
